Back in October we pulled a homeequity line of credit on my doublewide. We had allowed the insurance to lapse since the house was paid off so we had to get new insurance. We could only get insurance on the houses tax value of 53,000.00, despite the appraisal value being 167,000.00. The morgage company would only allow us to get a morgage for 55,000, instead of the 65,000 we were looking for because of the insurance policy. Why can we not get a loan for more then the house because the land itself is worth 30-40,000? I asked the insurance agent and she said that they couldn't insure the land. Why is it that I can't get a loan on the land too...

Question on best company for classic/historic car insurance?

Our family has had State Farm for 70 years now, several generations, and in the last 10 years or so we have been progressively more & more disappointed in their caring and customer service. Maybe its just the 'assistants' that my local SF agent (who never talks to his clients any more) use, they both seem to have just horrible attitutudes, sarcastic, and act like you are a complete PITA every time you call. I even have an email from his main assistant that I asked her to forward to the actual agent because I was told he was the only one that could answer my question, and just today I was SHOCKED when I re-read the email, and saw in the forward of my email when his assistant sent it on to the actual SF agent, She said This guy will just not give up, he keeps haunting me about this issue! I couldn't freaking believe it. I was going to forward the email to SF headquarters in Bloomington IL, but then as I read more & more about state farm I saw they are completely independent agents in each office, and have literally NO ONE who is their boss or who can reprimand or correct them. The 'assistant' said the best they can do, even if I REGISTER this vehicle in Maryland as Historic & get an Historic tag, which I will do, she said the best she can do is insure it as part time, occasional pleasure use, under 7500 miles a year . Which of course is NOT an historic policy. You can get that on ANY extra car you have in your household even if it is a 2011 model !! She did say (and I understand this being required) that in order to have is classified as Antique/Classic/Historic, you have to have an appraisal done on the vehicle as if it just came off the show room floor -then the premiums would be much lower if you had full coverage on it, as historic/classic . So here we stand. Can someone out there please help me understand - am I being taken for a ride by my State Farm office? Should I shop around for insurance companies that just specialize in Classic/Historic auto insurance? I am using H&R Block tax software and they are telling me to enter my health insurance premiums that I have paid for this past year to claim them as deductions. Are there any programs for college kids to get cheap dental insurance?

In college, not covered by my parent's insurance and can't get it at my job. Is there any sort of programs where College age students can get a relatively cheap dental insurance, or dental work done on the cheap? If it helps, I'm in Oklahoma.

I'm looking to insure an old Ford pickup that I just restored. I've been staring at dental insurance plans all day and finally it makes no sense anymore. I've enrolled in a discount plan but my dentist says I should get insurance for the procedures I'll be needing. I've only found one plan that seems to cover my area. Cost is not that big of an issue as more WHERE TO FIND IT. My job doesn't offer it. We are Canadians moving to the US in couple of weeks and we have just applied for medical insurance in the US, filled out all the papers and we'd like to know whether the insurance company will call our Canadian doctor to get our medical records? We want to make our doctor aware of this and at the same time, to be honest, we did not know exactly the dates when we've been at the doctor's office, we put down approximate dates on the insurance applic form and we do not want to be denied because of misrepresentation or something like that. At the same time, here in Canada, just because healthcare is universal, you don't get any medical papers or records to keep track on when you've been at the doctor's office. Thanks a lot.

Back in October we pulled a homeequity line of credit on my doublewide. We had allowed the insurance to lapse since the house was paid off so we had to get new insurance. We could only get insurance on the houses tax value of 53,000.00, despite the appraisal value being 167,000.00. The morgage company would only allow us to get a morgage for 55,000, instead of the 65,000 we were looking for because of the insurance policy. Why can we not get a loan for more then the house because the land itself is worth 30-40,000? I asked the insurance agent and she said that they couldn't insure the land. Why is it that I can't get a loan on the land too...
